Strategic Plan
2025-2030
Message from the President and Vice-Chancellor

It is with great pride and optimism for our university that I present Université Sainte-Anne's 2025-2030 Strategic Plan.
This document was developed amid profound change and significant political, economic, and technological uncertainty, which will undoubtedly persist throughout the period covered by this plan.
Unwaveringly, our commitment to our partners, our community - Acadie de la Nouvelle-Écosse, the French language, the environment, and our academic and social mission remains firmly rooted in our identity. In such circumstances, how can we position our university for success? This is the question that drove the development of this plan.
It was essential to take the time to reflect, consult, and plan for the future with confidence—even to dream—while maintaining a healthy dose of critical lucidity. Therefore, the methodology employed was based on a rigorous, inclusive, and forward-looking approach. First, we conducted an analysis of our internal and external environments. Next, we gathered the perspectives of our stakeholders, including staff, faculty, students, graduates, community members, institutional partners, and government partners. Finally, we used scenario planning to better understand the driving forces of our time and envision different possible trajectories for Université Sainte-Anne.
This work has enabled us to formulate realistic developmental hypotheses, identify clear strategic priorities, and define the desired outcomes. The result is an ambitious, yet realistic vision rooted in our Francophone and Acadian mission. This vision is focused on the future and centred on student success, innovation, and community engagement. The well-being and fulfillment of individuals, the university, and the community are at the heart of this plan.
This document outlines the university's general guidelines and will serve as the foundation for creating more specific operational plans. It identifies the opportunities and challenges that will arise. While recognizing the six priority areas for the next five years, this strategic plan primarily serves as a guide for our choices, approach, and action plans. Thus, this plan will ensure coherency in strategic choices within an overall framework for addressing challenges and seizing opportunities in the coming years.
I would like to extend my sincerest gratitude to everyone who contributed to this process. The commitment, ideas, and passion for the future of our institution that you have demonstrated are at the heart of this document.
With confidence and determination, I invite you to join me in embracing this plan. Together, we will make it a living tool and help write the next chapter of Université Sainte-Anne.
Kenneth Deveau,
President and Vice-Chancellor

Who We Are
At Sainte-Anne, the university experience is characterized by dynamism, meaning movement, exchange, and growth. The university also has traditional roots in a peaceful, intimate setting.
The three pillars of our university are interconnected, confirming the constant exchange among people, culture, knowledge, creativity, community, and environment. These pillars nourish, complement, and reinforce each other, expressing themselves through their interrelationship.
The People and Culture pillar emphasizes that when people and their achievements are at the heart of an institution, well-being, personal fulfillment, success, diversity, and inclusion are promoted. This enables us to promote Acadian and Francophone culture in all its forms, as well as Sainte-Anne's unique organizational culture.
The Knowledge and Creativity pillar highlights the importance of knowledge, innovation, and research. This commitment guarantees high-quality education, dedicated teaching, and an open, creative academic culture focused on the future and the needs of students.
The Community and Environment pillar signals our commitment to the ecosystem and environment. It promotes partnerships, engagement, sustainable development, and active contributions to the well-being of the communities we serve.
Strategic Areas of Focus
Each pillar targets two strategic priority areas. These are the areas in which we are working to achieve our vision. These areas, defined in general terms, will guide our action plans over the coming years. We will develop, monitor, and evaluate interim results using a rigorous approach.
We provide concise descriptions of these areas of focus. This enables everyone at Sainte-Anne to take ownership of them and fulfill their role within the institution to the fullest. No matter if you are a student, faculty member, administrative staff member, counselor, sports coach, researcher, maintenance worker, or part of another sector, there is a place for you. By encouraging our members to act individually and collectively in a lucid, committed, and determined manner, we are moving toward success together.
