SOCI 1126 : Culture and Society

This course is presented as a general introduction to the discipline of Sociology and Social Anthropology from an ecological - evolutionary perspective. Students will be introduced to a wide variety of human cultures and societies. During the first semester the focus will be on the theoretical foundations of human societies with special attention given to preindustrial societies. During the second semester the focus will be on industrial societies with special consideration given to Canadian society. Divergent cultures will be examined within the Canadian context.
