French as a Second Language: Customized Experience
Whether you want to prepare a second language evaluation for the Canadian public service, improve your professional profile or prepare for your next trip to Quebec City or France, contact us! We will design and implement the training that will meet your needs.
French as a Second Language: Part-Time Courses (CTP)
These part-time courses are offered once a week (or twice a week for accelerated courses) and are a useful way to maintain French language skills or to start learning. Join one of our groups and enjoy a dynamic and interactive learning environment that encourages speaking.
French as a Second Language: École intensive
These 5-week programs are specially designed to improve and develop the French language proficiency of participants and are offered full-time, Monday to Friday. If your goal is to learn and improve your French as quickly as possible, this program is for you!
Canadian Citizenship Language Evaluation (CLIC)
The CLIC program prepares beginners for the Canadian citizenship language evaluation. This program is funded by Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada and is free of charge for Permanent Residents and people with refugee status. Intake is continuous, so you can register at any time.

Souhaël Bouallagui
Director of Customized Training and French as a Second LanguageWith a lifelong passion for languages, Souhaël studied linguistics and particularly second language didactics. At Sainte-Anne since 2009, he has held the positions of teacher, manager and, since 2017, director of customized training and French as a second language. Interaction with his team and learners, and the opportunity to create new programs is what he prefers about his role.

Josie Benteau
Language Training ManagerAfter completing her Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Education degrees, Josie worked as a French as a Second Language teacher in Halifax Regional Schools. She loves helping others with their educational goals and developing learning resources. Josie was very excited to join the administrative team at Sainte-Anne as a language advisor for the intensive French as a Second Language programs in April 2023.

Nassim Ferkous
Language Training ManagerWith a Bachelor of Arts in Foreign Languages and a classical degree in Speech-Language Pathology, Nassim joined the FSL team as a teacher in October 2022 after working as a speech-language pathologist for seven years. In April 2023, he became a language consultant and is involved in the management of training for adults in the Halifax area.

Sylvie Gobert
Language Training ManagerAfter studying Roman languages and obtaining a degree in computer science, Sylvie joined the FSL department in 2007. She was a teacher for 2 years, then worked as an advisor and then as a manager since 2009. Responsible for distance learning and training outside of Nova Scotia, she plans and organizes training for federal public servants and individuals wishing to learn French or improve their level. Having played a very important role in the development of online FSL course delivery, she is very familiar with distance learning techniques and the technological tools used by the teaching team. It is always a pleasure for her to contribute her experience acquired over the years to ensure the success of learners.

Philippe Hougen
Program CoordinatorPhilippe Hougen has a degree in humanities specializing in linguistics, literature, and civilization. He joined Saint Anne's in 2017 as a teacher. Initially providing tutorials, he later took on part-time courses and curriculum and resource designing. Since February 2023, he has been the CLIC Project Coordinator, while continuing with resource designing and part-time courses.

Craig Meister
Project CoordinatorCraig Meister has been working in the French as a second language division at Université Sainte-Anne in Halifax since 2006. After a number of years as a teacher, he looked after the French for part-time students courses and is now with the new program in micro-credentials.

Juliette Moncada
Project CoordinatorWith a Bachelor of Science in Languages specializing in French as a Second Language, Juliette joined the French as a Second Language team in February 2018 as a teacher. She has taught numerous federal and provincial government employees in group and tutorial settings. In 2020, she became an evaluator for the French Assessment Test oral exams as well as for the Diplomas in Professional French. More recently, Juliette changed her role by becoming a project coordinator for our Customized Training division.

Erin Whiting
Language training managerAfter studying French and linguistics at university and doing several sessions of immersion at the Pointe-de-l'Église campus as a student and immersion school secretary, Erin joined the FSL department in 2019. She taught French and English as a Second Language courses and then became manager for the part-time French courses. It is always a pleasure for Erin to help students achieve their learning goals, and to watch them progress through the levels.
