Kassidy Boutilier

Church Point, NS, June 19, 2017 - Kassidy Boutilier, a native of South Rawdon, NS, has graduated from Université Sainte-Anne's Government Office Clerk program. Her diploma was awarded at the Spring Convocation ceremony on June 15, 2017. The ceremony represented a culminating moment in Kassidy's life, as she had her first experience at Université Sainte-Anne at the age of 16.

In 2013, she participated in a one-week mini immersion session at Université Sainte-Anne. She enjoyed this experience immensely and later returned to complete two 5-week immersion sessions, the first in 2014 and the second in 2016. In addition, in 2015 she completed an American Sign Language training course at NSCC, so it could almost be said that she is trilingual. In fall 2016 she decided to enroll in the Government Office Assistant program to perfect her French and prepare for a bilingual position in government.

"Sainte-Anne is like my home away from home” says Kassidy. “Ever since the first time I came for immersion, I felt safe and supported here. Being at Sainte-Anne's has taught me so much French, but being here has also taught me to love the language, and to never give up on learning and loving it."

As part of her program, Kassidy completed a six-week work placement with Service Nova Scotia in Dartmouth, where she provided administrative support. She also volunteered with the Conseil de dévelopmmenet économique de la Nouvelle-Écosse to assist with clerical work. Through these experiences she was able to apply the concepts learned in her program and gain valuable skills.  She is now well-equipped to join the workforce and start her career.

In recognition of her perseverance, determination and team spirit, Kassidy was awarded the Board of Governors Award at Spring Convocation 2017. This award is presented to a student who has demonstrated strong community spirit and a willingness to help others while maintaining excellent academic results.
