Le campus de Halifax à la rue Walnut

Church Point (NS), April 12, 2016 - On May 1st, the Halifax campus of Université Sainte-Anne will relocate from its current location at 1589 Walnut Street to 1190 Barrington Street.

The University's current facilities are rented from the Halifax Regional School Board. However, the provincial government has announced the construction of a new elementary school to replace the Le Marchant - St. Thomas school, neighbouring the Halifax campus. Pending the construction of this new school, students will be temporarily relocated to the campus on Walnut Street. Consequently, the University has been notified that it has to be out of its current location before the end of April to allow time for the school board to renovate the building.

Efforts are currently underway to ensure a smooth transition to the new location and programming will not be affected. As planned, the winter session will end this week and the spring session will begin in May.

The Halifax campus offers university and college programs onsite and by videoconference, such as: Government office administration, Continuing Care, Office Administration, Adult General Education, and Bachelor of Education. Customized French as a second language programs, as well as a training and work experience program for francophone immigrants, are also offered.

The new facility on Barrington Street will be temporary. The University has signed a five-year lease with option to terminate after two years and will initiate discussions with various levels of government to find a permanent Halifax location.

"We are pleased to have found a new location on Barrington Street and we will continue to offer the programs and quality training that our students are used to,"

- Allister Surette, President and Vice-Chancellor of the University Sainte-Anne.

Halifax offers a promising potential for the development of Université Sainte-Anne and the Halifax campus is a priority for the institution.
