This course explores the social and cultural dimensions of health, taking into account the transformations health care systems have undergone over the years. Emphasis is placed on the analysis and comprehension of the variables contributing to the growing complexity of social choices with respect to health: the multicultural context of Canadian society, growing poverty, new diseases, an aging population, etc. Social interactions and mechanisms in the health domain will also be examined.
